Illustrative service image: packaging

A clearer starting point.

Bring a product story to life through considered packaging graphics. We work from your confirmed dimensions, copy and production requirements; technical, regulatory and manufacturing sign-off stays with the appropriate specialists.

What we can discuss

  • Packaging visual concepts
  • Label and sleeve design
  • Artwork on supplied dielines

Two useful questions

  1. Which products and variants are involved?
  2. Are approved dielines and mandatory copy ready?

Deliverables, timing and responsibilities are confirmed in a project proposal.

01

Packaging visual concepts

We begin by translating your brand narrative into packaging that communicates at a glance. Each concept is built around your confirmed product dimensions, mandatory copy and production requirements, ensuring the design is grounded in real-world constraints from the outset.

Concepts are presented as visual directions rather than finished files, giving you clear options to refine before any detailed artwork begins. This stage focuses on hierarchy, colour, typography and imagery so you can choose the direction that best represents your product.

  • Visual concept directions aligned to your brand story
  • Dimensions, copy and production requirements confirmed upfront
  • Review and selection of preferred concept direction
  • Handover of chosen direction for detailed artwork
02

Label and sleeve design

Labels and sleeves require careful attention to scale, material behaviour and how graphics interact with curves and folds. We design within your confirmed specifications, balancing visual impact with the practical realities of printing and application on your chosen substrate.

Design development includes iterative refinement of layout, typography and colour treatment. The layout accommodates the approved copy and supports legibility within the supplied dimensions. The responsible product specialist must confirm the required wording and its suitability; a visual review does not replace that approval.

  • Design tailored to label or sleeve geometry and material
  • Iterative refinement of layout, typography and colour
  • Mandatory information positioned for legibility
  • Final artwork prepared for print production
03

Artwork on supplied dielines

When you supply dielines, we place artwork precisely within the provided templates, respecting bleed, trim and safe zones. Our work is specific to the dimensions and fold lines you confirm, ensuring the final files align with your manufacturer's expectations.

We do not create or alter dielines ourselves; that remains with your packaging supplier or specialist. The artwork should be checked against the approved dieline and the supplier’s specifications. Ask the production supplier to review the proof, materials and manufacturing tolerances before printing.

  • Artwork placed precisely within your supplied dielines
  • Bleed, trim and safe zones respected
  • No dieline creation or alteration included
  • Files prepared for manufacturer handover
04

Client inputs and review decisions

We work from your confirmed dimensions, copy and production requirements, so clarity at the start prevents rework later. Approved dielines and mandatory copy should be ready before design begins, as these anchor every decision we make.

Review decisions sit with you at each stage: concept direction, label layout and final artwork. We present work for your sign-off, incorporating your feedback before progressing, so the output matches your expectations.

  • Confirmed dimensions, copy and production requirements
  • Approved dielines and mandatory copy ready
  • Client sign-off at concept, layout and final stages
  • Feedback incorporated before progression
05

Exclusions and handover

Technical, regulatory and manufacturing sign-off stays with the appropriate specialists. We do not provide compliance checks, legal review or production testing; those responsibilities remain with your packaging supplier, regulator or qualified professional.

Handover consists of the agreed artwork files and any source files specified in the scope. We do not manage print runs, supplier negotiations or post-production quality checks, which fall outside our service boundary.

  • Technical, regulatory and manufacturing sign-off excluded
  • No compliance checks or legal review provided
  • Handover of agreed artwork and specified source files
  • Print runs and supplier management excluded

Your working checklist

  • Confirm product dimensions and variant list
  • Gather approved dielines for each variant
  • Assemble mandatory copy for every label
  • Specify printing method and substrate
  • Identify any regulatory requirements
  • Decide on concept review rounds
  • Confirm handover file formats

Questions worth asking

Which products and variants are involved?

We design for each variant separately, as dimensions, copy and dielines differ. Confirm the full product range and any regional variations so artwork is prepared accurately for every SKU.

Are approved dielines and mandatory copy ready?

Both should be finalised before design begins. Dielines anchor artwork placement and mandatory copy determines layout constraints; working from confirmed versions prevents rework and delays.

What stays with specialists rather than Layer Studio?

Technical, regulatory and manufacturing sign-off remains with your packaging supplier or qualified professional. We deliver artwork; compliance checks, legal review and production testing are excluded from our scope.
